There has been a lot of chat on Ning creators recently about a social networking CMS called Jamroom.
Several prominent Ning Creators including SoaringEagle and Strumelia have been discussing how great the platform is, how easy it is to migrate from Ning to Jamroom, and how liberating it is to be free of the constraints of a hosted platform.
Checking out the customer support forums, it certainly seems as though the Jamroom dev team are seeing an opportunity to get a huge number of disgruntled NCs over to their platform. Support is timely and thorough by the looks of it.
With that in mind, I’m going to be trialling the platform, the import process, and customisation options over the coming weeks to see if we have a proper contender on our hands. I have my old Ning 2.0 data to use for a test run, having previously migrated that old Ning 2.0 over to BuddyPress a while back, so i have a good data set with approx 2000 members and 2000 blog posts to import.
If any of you SweetPotato members have any requests for me to test on Jamroom then do let me know in the comments.
